Terms and Conditions

Effective from 1 September 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply to Home Boarding and Doggy Day Care supplied by Browns Boarding. By submitting a booking request, the customer confirms that the information supplied is accurate and agrees to these terms. A booking is not confirmed until Browns Boarding has accepted it and issued confirmation.

Nothing in these terms affects the customer's statutory rights under applicable consumer law.

2. Booking requests and availability

All bookings are subject to availability, suitability checks and acceptance by Browns Boarding.

Home Boarding bookings must include an overnight stay. Drop-off and collection take place in the selected AM or PM periods. Doggy Day Care may be booked as a Full Day or, where offered, a Half Day in the selected AM or PM period.

Browns Boarding may decline a request where the requested dates, capacity, dog compatibility, care requirements or information supplied make the booking unsuitable.

3. Dogs and customer information

The customer must provide complete and current information about each dog, including health, medication, feeding, behaviour, veterinary and emergency-contact details.

The customer must promptly tell Browns Boarding about any illness, injury, behavioural change, medication change or other matter that may affect care or suitability.

A selected female unneutered dog must not be in season or expected to be in season during the booking. The required booking declaration must be completed honestly.

Dogs must be at least 6 months old on the scheduled start date of a booking.

All dogs must be reliably house toilet trained and suitable for care in a domestic home environment.

Browns Boarding may decline, cancel or end attendance where information is missing, inaccurate or materially different from the dog's presentation during the booking.

4. Home environment, children and resident dog

Browns Boarding operates from a family home in which children and a resident dog may be present. Any dog attending Browns Boarding must be suitable and safe to stay in a household with both children and the resident dog.

The customer must disclose any known history of aggression, biting, snapping, guarding, reactivity, fear, chasing, destructive behaviour, escape attempts or any other behaviour that could affect the safety or welfare of children, the resident dog, another animal or any person.

A meet and greet or other suitability assessment may be required before a first stay or at any later time. Completion of an assessment does not guarantee acceptance of a current or future booking.

Browns Boarding may decline or end a booking where a dog cannot be safely or appropriately accommodated in the home environment.

5. Vaccination and parasite treatment

Dogs must have appropriate and current vaccinations. Browns Boarding may request evidence before attendance and may refuse attendance where suitable evidence is not available.

Dogs must have current flea and worm protection appropriate to their age, weight and health. Flea and worm products must be veterinary medicines currently authorised by the UK Veterinary Medicines Directorate and listed as currently authorised in the VMD Product Information Database, unless a veterinary surgeon has provided alternative written instructions.

Herbal, homeopathic or other unlicensed products will not normally be accepted as evidence of adequate parasite protection.

The customer must provide the product name and most recent administration date when requested. Browns Boarding may request supporting evidence and may decline or cancel attendance if suitable parasite protection cannot be confirmed.

6. Health, illness and veterinary treatment

The customer must not bring a dog that is unwell, infectious or otherwise unsuitable for attendance and must notify Browns Boarding promptly if symptoms develop before a booking.

Where urgent veterinary attention is reasonably required and the customer or emergency contact cannot be reached in time, Browns Boarding may arrange treatment in accordance with the veterinary consents recorded for the dog.

Unless Browns Boarding is legally responsible for the cost, the customer remains responsible for veterinary fees and related expenses incurred for the dog during the booking.

7. Prices, deposits and payment

The price shown or confirmed for the booking is based on the booked service, selected dates and periods, number of dogs and the pricing applicable when the booking is confirmed or amended.

A deposit may be required to secure a confirmed booking. The deposit forms part of the total booking price but is non-refundable when the customer cancels the booking, except where these terms or applicable law provide otherwise.

Standard Home Boarding drop-off is between 3:00pm and 5:00pm in the PM period. Standard collection is between 9:00am and 11:00am in the AM period. An agreed AM drop-off adds 50% of the applicable daily Boarding rate, and an agreed PM collection adds a further 50% of the applicable daily Boarding rate.

The remaining balance must be paid by the date stated in the booking confirmation or payment request. Browns Boarding may cancel a booking if payment is not received when due, subject to reasonable notice where appropriate.

Browns Boarding is not VAT registered. Prices and payment communications do not include VAT.

8. Customer cancellation and refunds

A customer may request cancellation through the customer portal or by contacting Browns Boarding.

If the customer cancels more than 14 calendar days before the scheduled start date, any amount paid above the deposit will be refunded. The non-refundable deposit will be retained.

If the customer cancels 14 calendar days or fewer before the scheduled start date, no refund will normally be due.

Where a customer has paid the full booking balance and cancels more than 14 calendar days before the scheduled start date, Browns Boarding will refund the amount paid minus the non-refundable deposit.

Any refund is subject to confirmation of the payments actually received, any prior refund or account adjustment and any mandatory rights that apply by law.

9. Cancellation or early termination by Browns Boarding

Browns Boarding may decline, terminate or cancel a booking where reasonably necessary because of safety concerns, illness, aggressive or unsuitable behaviour, undisclosed or materially inaccurate information, risk to children, the resident dog, another animal or person, failure to comply with these terms, an emergency, loss of operational capacity, licensing requirements or circumstances outside Browns Boarding's reasonable control.

If Browns Boarding cancels before the service begins for reasons not caused by the customer or the dog, all amounts paid for the cancelled service, including the deposit, will be refunded.

If Browns Boarding ends a stay early for reasons not caused by the customer or the dog, the unused portion of the service will be refunded, including an appropriate proportion of the deposit where applicable.

If cancellation or early termination results from the customer's breach of these terms, undisclosed or inaccurate information, or the dog presenting a safety or welfare risk that was not reasonably apparent when the booking was accepted, any refund will be assessed fairly by reference to the service already supplied and Browns Boarding's reasonable losses.

10. Changes to bookings

Booking changes are subject to availability, suitability, pricing and approval by Browns Boarding. A requested change is not effective until Browns Boarding approves it.

An approved change may alter the total price, deposit, remaining balance or refund position. The customer will be told about any resulting payment or refund requirement.

Browns Boarding may propose a reasonable operational change where necessary. The customer will be informed as soon as reasonably practicable.

11. Drop-off, collection and property

The customer must arrive within the agreed drop-off and collection arrangements and notify Browns Boarding promptly if delayed.

Additional charges may apply where collection is materially late or additional care is required, provided the charge is fair and has been explained to the customer.

The customer must supply enough of the dog's usual food for the full booking, together with clear feeding instructions. Any emergency replacement food and reasonable associated costs may be charged to the customer.

The customer should clearly identify food, medication and belongings supplied for the dog. Browns Boarding will take reasonable care but is not responsible for ordinary wear, minor damage or loss unless caused by a failure to exercise reasonable care.

12. Liability and emergencies

Browns Boarding will provide services with reasonable care and skill and will take reasonable steps to protect the safety and welfare of dogs in its care.

Browns Boarding is not responsible for loss or damage caused by inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the customer, the dog's undisclosed behaviour or health condition, or circumstances that could not reasonably have been anticipated or avoided.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights.

Information about currently authorised veterinary medicines is available from the VMD Product Information Database.
